We are very proud to endorse the FOODPHOTO FESTIVAL.
There is a close relationship between cooking and photography. Both require in-depth professional knowledge in regard to the techniques used, and in each of these art forms creativity plays a crucial role.
Sight is our first impression of a dish, coming before taste and smell. Thus it has the capacity to surprise us. It is a nod to the evidence. Cooking and photography are both mirror games between reality, illusion and creative fantasy. Welcome, food photographers of the world!

“Good food photographers approach their subjects using all of their senses, they want to portray the colour, texture, flavour and smell of a dish. A great photograph will draw you in and take you to the time and place the image was taken - the moment the dish was plated.”...more

Next September, Tarragona will welcome the world’s first FOODPHOTO FESTIVAL. The festival will feature a series of exhibitions which will remain in the city for almost three weeks, making Tarragona the capital that pairs food with the culture and art of photography. And it is the perfect city to host such an event, thanks to millennia of tradition, a celebrated local cuisine and the goal of becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2016.... more

Food photography has to make the food looking like it is as fresh as fish just caught out of the water. Our concept of healthy local food should be reflected in the images. No tricks- no spray - no nothing - just fresh food.

Why a FOODPHOTO FESTIVAL?

Food photography is one of the leading disciplines in professional photography and has more specialised publications, more sales and a larger audience than either fashion or news photography.

So that everyone can discover the artistic diversity and creative energy that this discipline brings to cooking. There is no other realm of human culture that is as influenced by photography as food.

We want to share our work, exchange opinions and network. In short, to share our passion with our audience. So who are we? We’re the photographers and stylists, agents and editors, publishers and customers who work in the field of food photography.

Food photography is synonymous with cutting-edge technology. It is a pioneer in using the most innovative potential of cameras, lighting and post-production to create new images boasting amazing technical and creative quality. In this respect it resembles its forerunners, the mediaeval painters, who in their day were geniuses of colouring, composition and spatial representation.

In the Baroque period, still lifes featuring food were the highest expression of human culture. Today, the best food photographers all over the world are reviving this art. The time has come for museums to exhibit their works.
